I work at a green company and we are trying to find compostable utensils. It seems that those that are, 1) break easily, 2) don't break down quickly enough, 3) are made and shipped from Japan so use more petrolum then local plastics.
Does anyone have a friendly product that doesn't fit into those categories? Anything in the NW would be helpful.

not sure about the details on production/distribution from these companies, but I found them both at the SF Green Festival. also another thing to remember is that some corn-based compostables are Genetically Modified corn~!
